El Comité de Solidaridad con Cuba (CSC) en Puerto Rico tiene una trayectoria de retos y desafíos en su quehacer para el apoyo a Cuba y otros pueblos en lucha. Puerto Rico es una colonia de los Estados Unidos y se nos imponen las mismas leyes restrictivas con relación a Cuba y más reciente respecto a Venezuela. Leyes y prohibiciones que hemos desafiado en diferentes formas para reafirmar nuestra nacionalidad y demostrar en los hechos que la solidaridad no se puede bloquear. El proyecto de de mayor impacto en el desafío moderno es la Brigada Juan Rius Rivera que desde el 1991 viaja a Cuba a realizar labores de trabajo voluntario e intercambios educativos y culturales.
Este año 2020 no se pudo viajar por la pandemia pero en julio de 2021 confiamos estar en Cuba y ya hemos construido la Brigada 30 Aniversario que visitará a nuestra hermana mayor desde Oriente a Occidente. Brigada que ya cuenta con más de 150 personas al momento de escribir estas líneas. Vamos a celebrar los 30 años de desafíos de la Brigada de Puerto Rico, los 60 del ICAP que se cumplen este 30 diciembre y los 40 del Festival del Caribe. Rendiremos un tributo a Don Rafael Cancel Miranda y le daremos un homenaje a los valientes guerreros de la salud cubana que ante toda adversidad han combatido la pandemia en Cuba y en decenas de países. Rendiremos un Tributo al soldado invicto, Fidel Castro Ruz, y a Celia Sánchez Manduley que este año estamos celebrando su Centenario. Llegaremos a la Sierra Maestra y a Media Luna hacer lo propio.
Nuestra XXX Brigada Juan Rius Rivera cerrará su estancia en Cuba en una celebración diferente con los trabajadores/as del CIJAM esperando el 26 de julio, donde reafirmaremos la amistad y la continuidad de la Brigada en nuestra verdadera casa en Cuba.
EL GRAN RETO EN EL 2020
Cuando el CSC se reunió el 13 de diciembre de 2019 para discutir y proyectar los trabajos para el 2020, jamás nos imaginábamos que el mundo iba a tener que combatir una pandemia que ha puesto de manifiesto las desigualdades sociales y la falta de programas de salud preventiva en la inmensa mayoría de los países. Tampoco pensábamos que luego del Huracán María y sus graves consecuencias en Puerto Rico se iba a dar la terrible situación con los temblores de tierra que a partir del 7 de enero dejaron a miles sin trabajo y viviendas en el sur de la isla. Así empezamos este 2020.
Gracias al colectivo de militancia del CSC, vanguardia de la solidaridad con Cuba en Puerto Rico, hemos logrado trabajar sin interrupciones en estos tiempos difíciles. No nos paralizamos, mantuvimos la discusión colectiva por diferentes medios, así como la información. Estar organizados en colectivo y estar convencidos en que la defensa de la Revolución Cubana es la defensa de la humanidad es la motivación de nuestro trabajo.
Podemos concluir que este año hemos tenido grandes logros en nuestro trabajo y que re articulamos el mismo para seguir defendiendo la paz, la solidaridad y la igualdad. Así que cumplimos los retos y vamos por más.
Logros del CSC en el 2020
Formación de la Brigada Juan Rius Rivera con más de 150 brigadistas para celebrar el 30 aniversario en julio 2021.
Constituir el grupo de comunicadores sociales del CSC e inaugurar el 26 de julio el Canal en la plataforma de youtube Puerto Rico con Cuba. Contribuir en la publicación de la Revista Digital Somos Caribe este 30 de diciembre en saludo al 60 aniversario del ICAP.
Promover la construcción de la Red Continental y la Red del Caribe en Solidaridad con Cuba dando concreción a los acuerdos del evento antimperialista celebrado en la Habana en el 2019.
Mantener presencia activa en las redes sociales en solidaridad con Cuba y otros pueblos en lucha.
Participar activamente en todas las causas justas en Puerto Rico y en solidaridad con otros pueblos.
Mantener estabilidad organizativa y económica a pesar de la pandemia, los toques de queda y la campaña terrorista del gobierno.
Trabajar en proyectos permanentes de solidaridad con Cuba como lo son la brigada, campañas contra el bloqueo, difusión logros de la revolución cubana, constituir la delegación jóvenes antimperialistas, y mantener vínculos con el movimiento internacional solidario.
Celebrar el Centenario de Celia Sánchez Manduley.
Contribuir al éxito de la Jornada del ICAP en Solidaridad con Puerto Rico.
Participar activamente en eventos virtuales a favor de Cuba, Venezuela y otros pueblos en lucha.
Insertarnos en la campaña internacional del Premio Nobel de la Paz para la brigada médica cubana Henry Reeve.
Crecimiento en las relaciones internacionales y solidificar el liderato en Puerto Rico.
No detenernos frente a la adversidad. Mantuvimos un calendario de actividades virtuales y presenciales durante todo el año.
Demostramos en los hechos que la solidaridad no estaba en cuarentena ni paralizada.
PROYECCIONES EN EL 2021
Proyectamos como objetivos centrales en el próximo año:
Fortalecer la estructura del CSC, así como las redes Continental y del Caribe.
Fortalecer la relación de trabajo con la diáspora en solidaridad con Cuba.
Aumentar la campaña del levantamiento del bloqueo a Cuba. Cada 17 de mes desarrollaremos actividades contra el bloqueo y nos uniremos al mundo en ese reclamo.
Unirnos a las campañas para que se deroguen las medidas criminales de Trump respecto a Cuba de manera inmediata.
Celebrar el Aniversario 30 de la Brigada Juan Rius.
Iniciar la Campaña Puerto Rico abraza a Cuba que culmine en un Encuentro Nacional Boricua en Solidaridad con Cuba.
Celebrar el 60 Aniversario de la Victoria de Girón con un evento virtual continental el 17 de abril.
Promover el Encuentro del Caribe en Santiago de Cuba (24 al 26 noviembre) ya sea como parte del 2do. Encuentro Antimperialista o el 9no. Encuentro Continental.
Concierto Con mi Cuba Solidaria el Día de los Derechos Humanos(10 diciembre)
Fortalecer mecanismos de divulgación masiva en las redes: Revista Somos Caribe, Canal del CSC Puerto Rico con Cuba y participar con corresponsales en el Canal Caribe de Cuba.
Proyectar las próximas 5 Brigadas rumbo al 35 aniversario.
Sumarnos a las distintas actividades que proponga el ICAP.
Divulgar la realidad de nuestra lucha libertaria por todos los medios a nuestro alcance.
Confeccionar un calendario de efemérides de Puerto Rico y Cuba.
Para nosotros y nosotras hijas e hijos del Caribe la defensa de la Revolución Cubana es defender la esperanza para la Humanidad. Felicitamos al ICAP en su 60 Aniversario y le agradecemos la oportunidad de aportar en la construcción de lazos solidarios entre los pueblos.

From Puerto Rico we salute this digital magazine initiative, and we reaffirm that Somos Caribe (“We are Caribe”) and that the empire will never be able to erase our Caribbean and Latin-American roots.
The Cuban Solidarity Committee, Puerto Rico Chapter, has a history of challenges and threats in its objective of aiding Cuba and other people in their quest for social justice. Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States and its government has imposed upon us the same restrictive laws in relation to Cuba and more recently in relation to Venezuela. Laws and prohibitions that we have overcome in different manners as a way of reaffirming our nationality and to demonstrate with acts that solidarity can not be blocked. The project of major impact in our modern times is Juan Ríus Rivera Brigade that ever since 1991 travels to Cuba to do voluntary work and cultural and educational interchanges.
This year 2020 we could not travel because of the pandemic, but we trust that in July 2021 we will be in Cuba. We have built the 30th Anniversary Brigade that will visit our older sister from East to West. Brigade that now has more than 150 persons listed. We are going to celebrate 30 years of challenges for the Puerto Rico Brigade, the 60th Anniversary of Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP) due this 30th of December and the Caribbean Festival 40th Anniversary.
We shall pay tribute of Sir Rafael Cancel Miranda and to the braves Cuban health warriors that in the midst of all adversity have confronted the pandemic in Cuba and in many other countries. We shall pay tribute to the never defeated soldier Fidel Castro Ruz and to Celia Sánchez Manduley in her 100th Centenary. We shall climb Sierra Maestra peak and will visit Media Luna town, Celia’s birthplace.
Our 30th Juan Ríus Rivera Brigade will close its voyage through Cuba in a unique celebration with the CIJAM workers on the eve of the 26th of July where we shall reaffirm our friendship bond and the continuity of our Brigade in our true home in Cuba.
THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN 2020
When CSC met on December 13th, 2019 to discuss and plan the tasks for 2020, we did not ever imagine that the World was to confront a pandemic that has made manifest social inequalities and the lack of health preventive programs in most countries. We did not think either that after Hurricane María and its serious aftermaths in Puerto Rico we would also endure the terrible situation of the consecutive earthquakes that shook the southern part of Island from January 7th on and left thousands unemployed and without homes. That is the way 2020 started.
Thanks to the militancy of the members of the CSC, example of the solidarity with Cuba in Puerto Rico, we have been able to continue to work without interruptions in these difficult times. We did not stop. We kept excellent communication through different means. Being organized and convinced that the defense of the Cuban Revolution is the defense of all humanity is the motivation of our work.
We can conclude that in this year we have had great achievements in our work, and we were able to reactivate them to continue to defend peace, solidarity, and equality. So, we achieved our goals and strive for more.
CSC GOALS OBTAINED IN 2020
Juan Rius Rivera Brigade formation with more than 150 brigadiers to celebrate its 30th Anniversary in Jury 2021.
The creation of the CSC Social Communication Group (CSSCG) and the inauguration on July 26th of a YouTube Channel Puerto Rico con Cuba. Support in the publication of Digital Magazine Somos Caribe (We are Caribe) as salute of this 30th December in the celebration of the ICAP 60th Anniversary.
Promoted the Continental Network and the Caribbean Network in solidarity with Cuba, fulfilling the agreements at the Anti imperialistic summit that took place in Habana 2019.
Maintained active presence in social networks in solidarity with Cuba and other people in struggle.
Actively participated in all just causes in Puerto Rico and in favor with other peoples.
Kept organization and economic stability in spite of the pandemic curfew and government’s terrorists campaigns.
Worked with permanent projects of solidarity with Cuba such as the Brigade, campaigns against the embargo, social diffusion of the achievements of the Cuban Revolution, constituted the anti-imperialistic youth delegation.
The celebration of Celia Sánchez Manduley Centenary.
Contribution to the success of ICAP’s Solidarity with Puerto Rico Event.
Actively participated in digital events in favor of Cuba, Venezuela and other people in struggle.
Inserted ourselves in the international campaign for Nobel Peace Prize for the Cuban medical brigade in honor of Henry Reeve.
Growth in international relations and solidifying leadership in Puerto Rico.
We did not stop in the midst of adversity. We kept our calendared digital and in presence activities throughout the year.
We demonstrated that solidarity has not been either paralyzed or quarantined.
2021 PROYECTIONS
Our central objectives for the next year are:
Strengthen the CSC structure, as well as the Caribbean and Continental Networks.
Strengthen the work relationship with diaspora in solidarity with Cuba.
Increase the campaign in favor of lifting the blockade against Cuba. Every 17th of the month we will develop activities against the blockade and will join the world in such demand.
Join existing campaigns to derogate Trump’s criminal measures in relation to Cuba immediately.
Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Juan Ríus Rivera Brigade.
Initiate the Campaign “Puerto Rico embraces Cuba” that may end in a Boricua National Encounter in Solidarity with Cuba.
Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Playa Giron’s Victory with a Continental Virtual event on April 17th.
Promote the Caribbean Summit in Santiago de Cuba (November 24 – 26) whether as part of the Second Anti imperialistic meeting or the 9th Continental Summit.
Concert: My Solidarism Cuba on Humans Rights Day (December 10th).
Strengthen massive widespread mechanisms in the webs: Somos Caribe Magazine, CSC Puerto Rico with Cuba Channel and participate with our event reporters in Caribe de Cuba Channel.
Work towards the next 5 Brigades in route to its 35th Anniversary.
Join to the different activities that ICAP propose.
Disseminate the reality of our quest for freedom through every means in our reach.
Elaborate a calendar of special historical dates of Puerto Rico and Cuba.
For us, sons and daughters of the Caribbean, the defense of the Cuban Revolution is to defend the hope of humanity. We congratulate ICAP in its 60th Anniversary and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute in the construction of ribbons of solidarity among our peoples.
